BARBARA'S BIO

When Barbara Tabach reflects on her career path that lead to writing LifeCatching™, she is apt to describe it as “creatively chaotic.” She has been a teacher, a writer, a business owner and a marketing consultant. Finally, with the writing of this book, all paths merged and her goal is clear – to inspire people to preserve personal stories and memories and to witness the value of life experiences.

Her creative passions began as a young high school English teacher in rural Iowa, where her innovative approach developed unique courses based on death and dying, the supernatural, and rock and roll music. When she met her future husband, Barney, she caught the entrepreneurial bug. Together they strolled down the bridal retailing career path. Yeah, wedding gowns and tuxedos…the land of brides and fantasy. At one time, they owned three stores in Iowa and Missouri. Not content to be “just a sales person”, her wedding reputation transcended to being the local “bridal maven,” offering guidance to thousands of brides through her School for Brides and her locally produced wedding planning television show. She also wrote periodically for Bridal Guide and VOWS magazines until the sale of their business.

More recently, she worked with a Las Vegas based marketing firm, where she consulted funeral services providers and wrote Life Celebrations Planner, a booklet about planning personalized services. She also has written educational video scripts about famous historical figures and events.

Today Barbara leads writing workshops, works individually with clients to organize and preserve their personal histories, and is busy at work on future LifeCatching™ books and products.

Barbara Tabach is a member of the Association of Personal Historians and the Oral Historian Association.
