IN THE STUDIO

LifeCatching Studio™

LifeCatching Studio is a virtual team of multi-talented specialists who creatively produce in either print or multimedia formats. Depending on your vision and needs, we can craft a memoir, assemble a family legacy using photos and tell the story of a business’ success as a promotional gift. After an initial consultation, the LifeCatching team provides you with a proposal and concept that draws upon our specialized talents to tell your story. Service options are detailed below and include: interviewing, transcribing, writing, scripting, editing your words, videography, still photography….

Personal Historian Services
Don’t let the stories fade away. So many options exist for chronicling a life story or telling a family history. Now is the time to begin. You can spread the project out over time or assemble a finished product in time for a special occasion—that wedding, birthday, anniversary or life passing. These can each be a stressful and hectic event. Our collective background in life celebrations makes us sensitive and capable of understanding your needs.

For the individual or family, Personal Historian Services can transform your personal story into several formats: book, multimedia or a combination of both. Though we encourage planning ahead, special circumstances may not allow this. During your first consultation with us, we will set reasonable expectations and deliverables for you.

Again, select from our ala carte service choices and pay only for what you require. This is especially helpful for do-it-yourselfers looking for assistance or those wishing to spread the budget out over time.

See Bound Book Options below: If you imagine a book that tells a personal history, we can create a text-heavy memoir of a loved one or a text + photo book of a family story.

See MultiMedia Options below: If you prefer a multimedia montage of a life story, we can script the storyline, edit your photos and assemble a multimedia presentation.

Business Historian Services
As a longtime business owner and marketing consultant, Barbara understands the importance of trumpeting your company’s success and longevity. LifeCatching products make perfect thank-you gifts for clients and for announcing special milestones in the company.

Our Business Historian Services will celebrate a significant anniversary or accomplishments in either print or multimedia formats. We’ll customize the look and feel of the LifeCatching project to fit your business’ image. However, since a Business History project typically involves numerous company people, we suggest that you start the project in advance; six to 12 months ahead is not too soon.

The same options that apply to Personal Historian projects apply here, too. See Bound Book Options and Multimedia Options below.

LifeCatching™ Consultation

With the right preparation and tools, you can do a LifeCatching project yourself. We offer assistance conceptualizing your project. If you have the technical know-how, sometimes you just need a partner, a LifeCatching Consultant, to get you going. Our consultative process will jump start your project.

LifeCatching™ Collaboration

On the other hand, if you prefer to hand the entire project over to LifeCatching Studio, we’re happy to be of service.

Our LifeCatching craft utilizes various media and technologies to customize your project. The process begins with deep and active listening during interviews. It does not end until the final edit to create your final presentation – whether in print, audio or multi-media.

Bound Book Options: Print projects such as memoirs, photo books, from a single book to hundreds of copies. Services include: interview recording, transcribing, ghostwriting, editing, recording and publishing.

The content may follow a chronological order or be presented in thematic chapters based on relationships, careers, hobbies and such. This usually becomes evident during our preliminary meeting. You also may have a vision and should share that with the interviewer.

LifeCatching staff polishes the transcribed manuscript of the interviews into a book for private publication. If photos are to be added, those are scanned and captions written.

Publishing and editing fees are determined by length of desired book, number of photos and other collaterals to be included. Printing options included: spiral bound, soft cover and hard cover bound books. To be quoted once length is finalized.

LifeCatching Multimedia Options: Productions using audio and visual media. From a 5-minute video to a full-fledged documentary. Services include: Audio and video interview session recording, incorporation of images into a final medium.

  • LifeCatching Chapters™: Focus on a slice of one’s life. For example, select a year, a hobby, a trip, a wedding, an anniversary and tell that story only. Runtime is typically under 10 minutes. Over time we can create a series of chapters about a family or business.
  • Sound-Scrapbook: Photos come alive as the narrator(s) tell his/her story. This combination of still photos and audio is suitable for highlighting a lifetime, recording personal messages to a guest of honor, or documenting a special event. Playing time varies depending upon the event and desires of the client.
  • Documentary: A full-length LifeCatching production that incorporates edited interviews, video clips, and still photos. Runtime depends on the story to be told and the client’s request, but generally is 60-90 minutes in length.

The LifeCatching Process

Interviews are at the heart of any personal history project. From our initial get-acquainted meeting, our technique will help you focus a project and assemble the elements for a truly memorable end product.

Interviews enhance all LifeCatching projects. For print, they are the foundation of the story being recalled. For multimedia productions, we incorporate clips of audio and/or video interviews for texture and interest.

Ten hours of interviews with a professional interviewer supply enough storyline for most personal history projects. A business or organization project depends on the number of individuals to be interviewed. We offer both audio and video interview sessions. These may occur either on location or in our studio. Fees are quoted upon request.

Other LifeCatching Studio services include:

Transcription: Interviews are transcribed verbatim, without editing, into a typed manuscript. Cost is determined by number of hours recorded. Editing is additional.

Family & Friends Interviews: Upon request, we can interview other family members or friends; both video and audio are available. Recording fees apply.

Editing: Whether written, video or audio, our team of professionals will edit your raw interviews into a more polished product to be enjoyed for years to come.

Photo scanning.

Reformatting of film and video to digital formats.

All projects are customized. Fees are quoted upon request.
